Just Order A 2013 Explorer Limited V6 4WD

Couldn't find a 2012 limited in the configuration I wanted so i will be on the list for the 2013!

Rumor has it that they start production of 2013's in early February.

Anyone else heard this???

Congrats on the order.

Not sure on the production dates but I'm thinking I read about the same thing with the early start up around February.

Looks like us Diesel owners are more active than the Explorer Owners as all of us have a PSD Passion also!

Agreed! We purchased a 2011 Explorer Limited in April, and the 2012 F350 in November. I have been spending time on the 6.7 forum, but like to come over here to the Explorer forum occasionally. We are really happy with the Explorer so far- just turned over 8,000 miles on it with no problems so far. It rides much better than the older Explorers ( we had 2 other ones). 26 mpg on the highway at 55-60 and around 17 in town. It's not an off-roader, but we have the SD for that! Congrats on your order, you will not be disappointed.

I think I have at least 3 4 explorers starting back to '91,'95, and 2003. Then I got the PSD habit and now my wife wants the explorer!

Shepardsonp - do you know when they expect the 2013's to start being delivered? I tried to order a 2012 today and later found out that's not possible. The dealership didn't realize it either. Thanks!

2013's should start shipping on the first day of production. No delivery holds are expected at this time while transitioning between MY12 and MY13. MY12 prodution is expected to finish by February 3rd and MY13 production is expected to begin on February 6th, so just a quick MY change over with no long transition period.

Thanks for the great information! That doesn't sound that far off to get the next model year. I doubt the current $1,000 rebate will apply but probably worth paying the extra.

Does anyone have a 2013 order guide?

I visited my local dealer today and he seemed to think the order banks were still open for 2012 models - I trust you guys have better information so I will assume the banks are now open for the 2013 models.

My wife could really use a set of wheels but the inventory around these parts seems to be either bare bones base model or fully loaded limited models.

Thanks,
Eric

My dealer thought they could order 2012 too, but contacted me later to say they could not. The cut off must have just hit. I'm going back Mon or Tues to place order for 2013 so I guess I should know for sure then. The supply here isn't good either, I had several dealers looking for the configuration I wanted - which isn't anything crazy - and they couldn't find it. Kept trying to convince me to take what they had of course.

Just heard back from another local dealer - said he found an exact match for me, 424 miles and a 7 hour drive away. Not going to be doing that.

Will likely order a 2013.

Someone was kind enough to get me a copy of the dealer order guide for the 2013 model and I am definitely going to get a 2013 rather than buy off the lot.

Being able to get an XLT with 2nd row captains chairs seals the deal for me. We didn't really want to have to buy a Limited simply for the seats. So, easy decision made for me.

Also, am intrigued by the new Green Gem color - was set on getting Sterling Gray but not so sure now.

Sent my dealer an email to see if the even have pricing yet on the build we want. I hope to order this week.

It sounds like a March delivery date might be possible based on the 2/6/12 production date.

Thanks for all the help folks!

I placed my order for 2013 about a week ago. They said it may be a month before they have the actual production date. But my salesman emailed me yesterday to at least say he was checking on it and had no info yet. I guess I will need to embrace the joy of anticipation. Or more likely learn to be patient knowing I'm getting exactly what I want.

Congrats! I hope it comes quick and that it's all you hope it to be. I think Ford hit the new Explorer out of the park. It's gorgeous, well built, more economical and I could go on and on.
