93 Explorer black smoke of death
Does any on know if there is a resolved post for the Explorer black smoke problem. I have done what everyone else has with no luck. Had two new MAF, fuel presure regulator, idle air control, coolant temp sensor. Checked PvC, and vacume lines. I see lots of posts where people replace every thing like fuel filters o2 sensors with no luck. I am just wanting to know if someone has resolved this issue.

Black smoke usually indicates that it is running rich, so look at things that can make it run rich. A couple of things I might do:
1) Pull codes to see if the computer is seeing the rich condition.
2) Check fuel pressure to see if it is too high.
3) Pull spark plugs to see if the spark plugs are indicating a rich mixture in all cylinders or some.
