New box adapter for old 5th hitch on new truck!

Since I just ordered 2012 f350 short bed and I have few years old rail based sliding reese 15k hitch. I could spend $2000 for new elite sliding hitch or just buy this box adapter for 350 dollars and use my old hitch. Look at:

Reese Rail Kit Mounting Adapter Reese Accessories and Parts RP30156

Anyone have this box adapter? If so, your thoughts? Or should I buy new elite sliding hitch? Ford dealer said they would buy my 5th hitch for 300 dollars. Too cheap!

Looks like it says it is for use with the factory under bed rail kits. Does yours have the underbed rails? I would call/e-mail e-trailer and ask. They have always been real good about responding to me. In fact they created a video and posted it based off of one of my questions. I have never seen customer support that answers your question with a video of the product. Impressive.

Right for under bed rail option as part of factory order which I did.

And I already called Reese headquarters and they confirmed it will fit my new truck and old hitch.

I am hoping to hear from owners rather than the company who sells or make it.

Well, I think if the old hitch still works for you, and there's nothing wrong with it, just go with the kit. If you're just itchin to upgrade, you could always try and sell your old hitch on Craig's List or similar. You may or may not get more out of it there, but at least you could say you tried.

If you like your old hitch, I say why not use it.

That kit basically adapts from the Ford under bed mount, to the equivalent of standard in-bed rails. So you can clip on any hitch you want, and there are a lot of them that fit industry standard rails.

The downside is that it will be an extra step to remove all the in-bed portion when you want a clear flat bed. But at least you will have that capability, which you don't have on your old truck.

Having said that, I'm not a fan of the Reese Pro style sliding bar jaw. But that's just a personal preference.

Agreed, except that fiver hitches on Craigslist are a dime-a-dozen. If the dealer offers $300 for any used fiver hitch, you would want to jump on that, or keep it. It is unlikely you would get more than that on the used market. Especially for a Reese Pro 15k, which is one of the cheapest least respected out there. In fact, Reese stopped putting their name on it, and spun it off to just Pro Series. Everyone knows it is still a Reese.
