Question GT-40 Heads what is a good price????

I picked up a good used Edelbrock Performer RPM Air Gap for less than half what Summit get for a new one!!! The guy has a set of GT-40 heads that are matched to the intake I bought today. I'll need to replace the springs to fit the cam I'm going to use in my 289(but that's no big deal). I just need to know what a good set of GT-40 Heads go for.

A pair of used GT40 heads in good condition can be had for between $250-400. It depends on what part of the country you live, what the local demand is, and what the supply is. They were last used on 1995-96 Explorers besides the first gen Lightings and the 1993-1995 Mustang Cobras. They are not rare but not common either.

I paid $300 for a good used pair off a 1993 Mustang Cobra a couple of years ago. I only needed to clean then up, lap the valves and they were ready to use.

I just picked up a set of gt40 iron heads for $200 . The were rebuilt by a local machine shop and ready to be installed. I talked to the shop that did all of the work and they said they pressure tested, mag tested, cleaned and rebuilt them before they left the door.

There has been a market flood of these heads the last 3 years or so, both the 40's and the 40P's, due to the amount of V8 explorers in the JY...

I wouldnt pay more than $100-$150 for a set in decent shape, and you can find them in most u-pull-it type JY's for even less than that.
