new style dip stick rebuild

I was looking at the new diesel power mag and found the dip stick adaptor repair kit by strictly diesel performance. So i went to there web site and wow 300 bucks for the kit. It looks like a totally different kit than the one i got from bob. But it says you can put it on with motor still in the truck. Might be worth it for someone who still has a leak even after you use a stock rebuild kit. Sorry cant post the link from my phone. I googled dipstick adaptor repair kit by strictly diesel and it came up.

Thanks for posting that up. Ya it looks like a good setup, but too much for piece of aluminum.

I saw that in the book.

It's so expensive because nobody needs it and they probably machined a bunch of them. haha.

Well then, according to supply and demand they should lower the price down and sell them.

Well, if you take a 40 dollar chuck of aluminum and do 150 dollars worth of machining on it....

I did the same thing as you, oldbird- took it apart carefully, carefully replaced the o-rings and nut, carefully tightened it back up, and... Leaked worse than before. So I tightened it more. Loosened it a little. Tightened it again. It was a week of this, always leaking out my expensive Delo. I kept thinking of your post about your final solution, so I finally took it apart and smeared gray RTV (it was all I had laying around) all over it and tightened it back up. Two weeks and 2000 miles later, dry as a bone!

Dipstick Adapter Repair Kit
That's cool and a very nice piece, but (1) I don't care how ok someone thinks it is, I don't want a chunk of anything metal floating around in my oil pan (a large magnet to hold it in place would give piece of mind I suppose) and (2) for the cost... I'd take my chances with the repair kit sold by Diesel O-rings and others.
