What Do You Carry?

So, I have my truck and found that my bed cover is good to go. I need to decide what tools I need to carry on a daily basis. I don't see myself making any major mechanical repairs on the side of the road with this one, so I'm a little hesitant to load up a bunch of wrenches and sockets. Is there any real need to haul around much more than a few screwdrivers, pliers, hammer, tie downs straps?

What does everyone else see the need to carry in a new truck?

My truck isn't new, but when I would put the same stuff in it if it was.

straps, come a long, chains and bungees. medium sized ratchet set, crescent wrench, pliers, screw drivers, zip ties, allen keys, knife and flash light. I carry other stuff, but that's the important stuff to me.

with these trucks you would be better off carrying some electrical tame and a Multi-Meter. but the above list should be about all you need. If you have a trailer hitch with ball attached that can be substituted for a hammer!

As long as she's under warranty and I'm traveling, all I need is cell phone coverage, an extra qt of oil, a gallon of premixed coolant, paper towels, flash light, road side emergency kit and some bottled water and blankets.

My trucks far from new, but all I carry is basic tools and chemicals, some rags along with the hauling, hitching and tie down supplies. My tool box still has plenty of room left in it.

I'm glad I read the OP fully, My first answer was .40 x 30...

We carry small tool bag with about 2 dozen basic tools. Heavy winter coat in case stranded in winter, a heavy rain poncho in case stranded in heavy spring rains. Tire chains during the winter. Floatable flashlight...one of the big ones that takes the lantern battery. 14 ft of chain with connectors and eye hooks. Hand winch. 4way lug wrench. Heavy bottle jack. 2 ton hydraulic scissor jack. Bungie cords. Tie downs. 20 feet of 1/2 inch line. 6 road flares. And we are able to keep all of this behind the seat in the cab. along with spare oil, transmission fluid, brake fluid and I used to carry power stearing fluid but I removed the power steering pump a few weeks back. I know you said new vehicle...but depending on where you live in this country...this is a good list of items. I used to carry all of this same gear in my 03 Ford I had....back in 05... I hope this is helpful to you?
