I have a question reguarding changing to the later PCM. My early 99 california truck has a glow plug relay with the shunt to monitor left and right glow plug banks. If I get a later model PCM it could have been from a truck with a glow plug monitor. If I get a PCM from a different state it may have a PCM that doesn't orginally have the three wires from the glow plug relay shunt going into the PCM.

If my wireing remains the same and I have different wires and signals going into the new PCM from what it should have what does the PCM do with the information? What about the signals the new PCM is expecting but my early99 isn't sending? Wouldn't the PCM throw codes because of the readings that appear wrong? Am I going to be getting codes because the new PCM is expecting different readings?

One of the reasons I am asking is I understand I can't get buy a replacement, they don't make it anymore. Please don't mention a rebuild from Auto Computer Exchange.

If you decide that you must have a 99.5-01 PCM for a 50-state emissions truck, try looking for an NMCx, LVSx, or CNHx. The latter two are for 450/550 trucks, but they can easily be "chipped" with NMCx calibrations. The NMC ones shouldn't be too hard to find.
