Looking for a good gas tank for a 54
I know a lot of you have moved your tanks so I figured it would be worth asking if anyone has a good tank sitting around. Other years would probably work too, its the saddle tank setup. I'm in South Dakota, but will be taking a trip to New Mexico in about a month so hopefully I can find one close to my route.

I love my 54s and I always try to find great used parts when restoring them but in my humble opinion using a used gas tank is asking for headaches. I am big on saving money but I have bought brand new tanks for my 1954s for $185 and by the time you find a rust-free, decent used tanks, clean it out properly, seal it and pray it doesn't clog your fuel lines, it is easier to buy new and avoid the rust/corrosion issues. Unless you find something that was recently new and someone changed their mind, it can be a headache. Just my opinion.

This may be the guy Teardropty is talking about:
1953 1954 1955 Ford Truck Street Rod Steel Gas Tank | eBay
Added note: Where the tank is located on these trucks, it takes a lot of impact from road debris. I recommend a shield in front of the tank for protection. I just used one of the shields for the battery. It doesn't protect the bottom, but it does a pretty good job protecting the front and the bottom leading edge. If you make your own shield, make sure it doesn't contact the tank. You don't want it to create an area that promotes rust.
