56 F100 restoration
#62
I just need to dissagree on that I belive. I looked it up in the 1956 shop manual, there isn´t anything mentioned in the text as I have been able to find atleas. But the fig 13 on page 242 clearly shows the loop to the rear and the spring clamps being 2 forward and 1 to the back.
So I am pretty sure the loop should go to the rear...
What do you think?

You IF you had sliped fallen.and broken something else, just because we are debateing this loop thing, I would have felt REALLY bad....

So the springs were installed incorrectly? I'm not surprised really, that pretty much epitomises why I pulled the truck from the restorer. The first thing I did when I got it home was pull the steering column apart and replaced the old, broken 'PRDNL' with a replacement one I had bought from the box of parts I collected from the restorer. He was constantly doing the same thing two or three times before he got it right, or so I thought, which makes me wonder how many other things aren't right yet to be discoverd. That coupled with the sense he didn't really like working for me and the project to him was a milk cow I felt it best to pull the job from him and finish it myself and contract specific jobs that I can't do to someone else. One of these days I'll hopefully finish it, not cut it into little pieces! (Pink Floyd for those who may not understand.)
So like the rest of you, my wife patiently waits to see the truck roll down the road. When I get the dust off and get back to it I'll be certain to keep all of you posted to its progress. And because of your kind interest Jimmy I'll extend first ride to you.

Thanks for the kind offer South of BC, who knows? maybe I will follow you up on that someday, even if I live in Sweden
This is great news, to get an update after 3 years of silence.
But I would really like to give you a kick in the butt, that truck is way to good looking for collecting dust in a garage.
But I know how it is sometimes you have the energy and somtimes not.
I´ll keep my fingers crossed for some updates eventually

Next week I should be taking some pigs down to Tri-Cities and hitting Fox Trailers in Post Falls on my way back. I'm hoping there will be time to swing by to see how you are, and how the truck and Bill's 'A' are progressing. I'm assuming you are still hanging (groan) around the same place. And if I time it right I'll be able to buy you guys a round and sleep it off before heading home!
