I have been hinting for some time that I planned on building a SLICK with a 3.5L EcoBoost along with the 6spd Automatic and all electronics from the new F150 including its electric assist power steering & more.
This will be a monumental task and in my head trying to work out the details of what I want to include. A big risk but think I can get it all to work out. If not I can at least say I tried.
Dreams to reality do not work unless you try!
So success or failure I will soon find out.
Already have a glitch in this that when picking up the donor truck I stopped at a gas station near home and the 35mm camera I planned on using to photo document this build along with a friends smart phone were stolen off the seat of truck WHILE we were pumping fuel! How brazen they were to do that. We realized the phone was taken pretty much before we pulled out from gas station but did not realize until I returned home the camera was gone too.
Problem is we knew who took them but did not actually see them reach into truck to take them. Maybe its time to go back to store to see the stores camera's.
So pics will show as soon as I can get a new camera to replace what was taken.
Details: From my 5 slicks I have it narrowed down to 2, of which truck will be used for this build.
The engine and trans and front suspension will be from a 2011 F150 XLT with only 6400 miles on it!
4x2 Configuration with most likely gear being 3:31
Remember this is no longer a pipe dream but a go!
More details as they happen.
A lot of things need to fall in place here but the excitement builds!

Some good news, Hit the key on eco and it fired right up! Sounds great and all electronics work. Should be a fun swap . . . Odometer says 6430 miles.
Some quick measurements tell me the dash and seats will fit. I still may keep stock dash and adapt this gauge package to it.
All depends on how it all fits. Teardown in progress.

I can still enjoy the other trucks driving them weekly but have the feeling this will be the go to truck and I can save the miles on my diesel.
Pic of original window sticker on donor truck. Truck I will most likely use for engine transplant. 1 Shot of donor truck too.
Borrowed camera just so I can get a few pics.

I'm in the same head space.
I spend a lot of time on the LaLaland freeways.
But you are light years ahead of me.
I'm still trying to finish other projects before I get to it.
So I'm way interested in your project.
Good luck.
Take lotsa **** pics.

But thats only on this model. Others its less than half that.
Considering Ford wants:
Engine assy: $ 15,980.94
Trans Assy 5,118.76
Its a smokin' deal actually
HUGE cost adding the water cooled turbo's etc for the package
The Long Block assy and nothing else is at 6,901.95 and a HUGE jump for a complete engine assy.
Also just to make it clear this may seem like a big buck project but it is really not. I paid far far less for an entire truck with 6430 miles on it than it would cost me to build a generic 390 engine alone.
Basic cost of a decent 390
Edelbrock Heads complete and ready 1750.00
Crank assy kit 1900.00
Engine Machine work 600.00
Engine core 200.00
Cheap Headers 129.00
Oil Pump & Timing set 100.00
Rockers 250.00
Misc 500.00
That's the better part of 5500.00
Add a transmission, interior, electronics and this is a F R A C T I O N of the cost.
Although it seems like a big initial investment its a smokin' deal.
Subtract all the good parts I can sell off this truck and it could very well be near free! A no Brainer really . . . Big Bucks build? Not hardly.
Possible Failure? ABSOLUTELY!
The EXCITEMENT BUILDS for sure . . .

TKS! The good the bad and the ugly will be posted here!
A huge step has been taken because of shortage of $$.
Thanks to my great wife in support of allowing this to happen.
Failure at times can be ugly. I do not plan on failure with this project but so be it if that happens. I am sure it will be a rollercoaster ride!
I already hit a HUGE snag in width of frames.
The 66' Frame is 34" & the 2011 Frame is 44". So in the end I will cut apart to nice trucks and attempt to blend them all together. I just may end up with a huge pile of parts . . . Simply do not know unless I try.
my SEMI is going to be the first thing to go in order to finance this project.
If it does not sell the project will grind to a halt. Another hope and a prayer that it will work out.
