97 F250 Heavy Duty door locks

Both door lock cylinders on my truck no longer work with the key. I have no idea where to start to fix it or get it fixed. Is this a common thing that I can fix or can anyone recommend where to get it fixed? Locksmith? Thanks ahead of time.

remove the interior door panel.
look down in and you'll see a rod that connects to the key cylinder via a plastic clip.gently pry the clip up off.
lastly, now look at the side of the door (the side that meets the door jam when closed) and you'll see a large metal clip that holds the key lock cylinder in place.gently pry this clip out towards you and remove it fully from the door.
the key lock cylinder can now gently be pulled out/via a little tipping it just right, straight out away from the door.
inspect and fix,or replace with new and install in reverse order.

you may find the plastic clips are what is broken (thus making the key appear do nothing when inserted and turned) and you can just replace those.

Thanks for the reply! I should have been more clear, the key no longer turns the lock cylinders. It's as if it is the wrong key. I have both original keys and both are the same.

You could have some type of corrosion or dirt in there. Maybe try some type of cleaner or lubricate in there.
I know on my motorcycle and on my buddy's, the key/igniton would get tight/hard to turn. The area was getting a lil corroded from moisture and or dirt in the air.
Are the keys worn down?

The truck has very limited wear and corrosion. I tried some lock lube and it didn't help. I thought it might be a worn key but the other key is still brand new never had been used and it did the exact same thing.

I'm actually still dealing with this exact problem on both of my trucks, both on the passenger doors. I'll be removing the cylinders tomorrow and soaking them in lubricant. I have some high speed gun lube I'm going to try on it. I'll let you know how it works if/when I get time to do it.

the lock cylinder are known to "freeze" up. lubricate them and work the key back and forth and they should loosen
