My 2001 F250 7.3 Power Stroke Diesel is sick - Please help
Good Morning Everyone,
I have a 2001 F250 that has 240k miles on it and it has ran great since I have had it, until last week. I was driving down the freeway at about 70 mph when my Service Engine Soon light came on and the truck started running rough(like it was starving for fuel.) I replaced the fuel filter and air filter and it did not make a difference. I thought that I was not hearing the turbo spin, so I cleaned out the ebpv. I now hear the turbo but on take off, the truck holds back or vibrates and there seems to be a huge loss of power. I have a couple of questions and thanks in advance for any assistance that you may give.
Question 1 - I recently received a FORD recall to replace the cam sensor - could this be causing my problem?
Question 2 - if the answer to question 1 is no, then what could it be?
Question 3 - Does anyone know of a reputable and honest F250 Diesel shop/mechanic in the Dallas/Fort Worth area that you trust enough to recommend?
Once again, thanks for your time.

Before you go hunting down shops.....
First Check with Clay @ RiffRaff diesel performance and see if he has a black CPS. The one from the dealer is probably grey and still prone to failure. Keep it in your glove box with a 10mm socket and ratchet for a spare. $25~ is cheap insurance. These are easy to replace. It sits on the lower/front side of the engine block just above the crank pulley. 1 bolt and a 2 wire harness to change it out.
Next... with the engine idling, you should have what feels like a miss and rough idling. Carefully reach over the passenger side valve cover, (Watch for moving parts. Dont get hurt) and push in the harness that goes in under the valve cover from the the side facing the inside of the engine. Do this for both the drivers and the passenger valve cover. These are known issues. If it isn't too bad you will feel and hear the motor smooth out when you push it in.
This is the UVCH (Under valve cover harness).
The connector under the valve cover, over time, will fail and slowly disconnect causing your injectors and glow plugs to not get any power.
You can either do the 50 cent mod, (Search this forum for 50 cent.....you will see why they call it that.) Or you can replace the harnesses, (my preference). I think they are also available from Clay. Or you can get them from Parts Guy Ed. They run about $65 a side. Not hard to do..just time consuming cause you have to pull the IC tubes and argue with hard to reach bolts.
Also check the wire harness that runs above the drivers side valve cover and make sure there aren't any wires exposed from rubbing against the valve cover.
Also while you are in there re-torque your injector hold downs and rockers.
