And I still had to pay for the inspection and I only have 45 days to fix it or I've got to pay again.

What year are we talking about? Steering wheels changed in '77.

Also, what state are you in? Kalifornia?

Really. I thought Kalifornia was the only communist state, not Texas too. If I were you I would research the law and see what it says specifically.

Did they give you a reference to the particular law or statute you violated or did the inspector just say that?

What size steering wheel does the state require?

Geez! I'm glad I live in Hicktown, USA and there's no inspections, emissions or otherwise.

Is this a one time only inspection or a recurring event?

I would just get a jy steering wheel, pass inspection and then hang it on the wall for the next time.

Pictures please!

I have a grant 13 1/2 inch on it which I think is small for the truck since the power asst is not working. The inspector just told me it would not pass. I'll make some calls and see what the laws are for steering wheel. I'm trying to figure out how to post pics. Newbie

I had to go through an inspection lane on my way through chicago once in my 77 f-150 and they jacked me around on my steering wheel as well. They said it wasn't "factory" made. Granted thats not why i had to go through the lane but the wheel was also a grant 15in" i beleive. which are made to replace the factory 16 or 17" steering wheels. Kind of bogus they nit pick that kind of stuff if you ask me.

Believe it or not I don't think this would have been an issue in Kalifornia... No safety inspections; at least not in Norcal (not sure if any counties or cities mandate one). They just want to violate your tailpipe if you are '76 or newer.

I suppose if you got pulled over a cop could give you some grief over it.
