Hi all,

I recently had an argument with a friend about the speed limiter on his SVT Lightning. He claims it to be at 155 mph and I was told differently by someone else. So I figured I would drop in here and drop a line and ask you guys. Thanks for any and all help you can offer.

 

First gen is 110. I don't think there is a limiter on the second gen Lightning.

 

Second gen lightning true top speed is 149mph due to areo effects, the newest motor trend has a cool article on that and a bunch of others to.

I have a hard time believing that 146 is top speed we took my buddies '01 out the other weekend and buried the speedo (140mph) and the tach never did stop climbing.

 

Is it stock or modified?

 

It is bone stock with the exception of the K & N air filter and the two 3" holes that have been drilled in the bottom of the filter box. That mod took the boost level from 7psi to 10psi.

 

Well 7 to 10PSI is a huge gain, in the neighborhood of 40-50hp.

 

My top speed in my Lightning 153 and I let off js

 

I've had my Lightning up to 153 mph
And it was still pulling but it was pulling slow so I let off with long tube headers 60 lb injectors

 

there is no limiter, gen 2 lightning was clocked at 147mph by guiness world records in 2003
