2011 F250 Lariat to 2012 F150 FX

The hop-shake was getting to me. And, since I don't haul anything but a ZTR mower, I never really needed the F250 except plowing so, made the plunge and took the trade-in hit. Went to 3 dif dealers and did a bunch of research. With gas the way it is the dealers use that as an excuse to low-ball the trade relative to KBB/Edmunds/Nada. Personally, I would think they would have more problems with the F150 since F250s are contractor related and the gas price just get's pushed on to the customer. Anyway, I found the exact truck I would have ordered. MSRP of 42 and got it for 34 + tax, etc. Much more me. Has plastic bed-liner but no tailgate step. Love the floor shifter and especially the gun metal wheels - first dealer I seen those at. Steering seems a little stiffer vs normal except with no gas - then much softer vs traditional. Is that the general opinion. Oh yeah, 5.0. Rides like a caddy vs the F250. I like the colored bumpers too. Always had chrome previous. And painted skull caps. Power folding mirrors too, why I don't know.

Congratulations. Nice looking truck. I've heard from a couple of our service guys with 2012 F-150s that the steering is pretty stiff.

No more step ladder to clean my hood and windshield. Now I can start looking for mods too. Running boards and mud flaps off the bat. I really liked one Tundra running board I saw, very wide. Would love to get a magnaflow exhaust but, I did that to our now gone 06' Dodge Dakaota and was too loud inside the cabin. Any other mods good for the 5.0?? A tune mods I'm scared of since I've never done one, warranty, etc.

I tink I am going to have to get a 2" leveling kit. Recommendations please or thread links. I would like roof lights too. That looked really cool on my F250. Will the leveling kit affect the ride???

How bad did you get hit on the trade in? I'm looking to do exactly the same as you; trade off an 11 F250 and go to a 150. (blew up my knee; F250 is too hard to get in and out of now).

Why did you go with the FX4? I'm wrestling between FX4 and Lariat and prefer the looks of the FX4 but want a couple of the options that you have to have the Lariat for.

Heres my .02. I got a 2" Autospring, installed it myself, from a seller on Ebay for ~ $75 shipped. IMHO it looked like it sat nose-high, so I eventually bought the 3" rear blocks which raised the rear 1.5" and gave it some rake back. I originally went with AirLift airbags, but to get the truck to appear not so nose high I had to put alot of air and it rode rough. The reason I tell you this is you can buy the front and rear as 1 kit for cheaper than buying them separately, like I did One of my buddies got a 1.5" LK on his SC and it sits nice, no rear blocks needed.

As far as affecting the front- yes, it will ride a little stiffer. I'm ok with that, it rides like a truck ( because thats what it is). You will need to get it realigned after the front install, I got mine done at the Ford dealer when I took it back for the first free OC. Cost like $90 IIRC. You can check out the pics in my garage, the latest one has the rear blocks installed. All the others were with just the front LK, and the bigger tires. Good luck!ell you this is you can buy the front and rear as 1 kit for cheaper than

Trading F250 for F150

I went the same route, traded a 2009 F250 Lariat for a F150. The heaviest I ever towed was under 10,000 so I went the F150 Ecoboost route and it has not disappointed me so far. The dealer went an honest 35K for my F250 on a good deal for the F150. I expected the better fuel mileage but the power and ride quality were a big bonus. I thought the F250 rode well until I drove the F150. Congrats on your truck and I hope you are as pleased with it as I am with mine.
