It's limited to that power because thats the limit of the HPFP. The same HPFP in the duramax.
Also power isn't everything, it also counts how effective it gets to the ground.
I honestly think a 600 hp 2wd idi truck would have a lot of trouble hanging around with a tuned 6.4, 6.7, or duramax.

This is true, and they both suck. CP4.2 from bosch. Maxed out at 500hp. Once you change that, the 6.7 turbo's are also maxed out at 480-500hp. Its spendy, not as easy as it was with the 6.4.
K13 on the 6.4 can support 650-700, CP3's on CTD and old D-max can do 600 before you have to modify it.

I think they can pull it off even with a 2WD setup. An example I saw skimming youtube this morning: WOP 9.91@139.4 - YouTube
Seeing that, I think they will get it to hook it up if the weight is left in the right places.

luckily it doesn't get to cold around here, it will probably be in the 16-17+/- range depending on what the pistons will allow without becoming to thin. maybe around .100" off the top, if not a tad more. thats a pretty drastic change considering stock idi 7.3 is 21.5:1. here is NMB2's idi cold starting with 18:1cr
