A cowl hood is actually pretty easy to make. My friend made mine out of the stock hood. Essentially he just cut the two side and then bent the hood up roughly 3" and then cut some metal pieces to fit in there and welded it together. If I have a chance tonight, I will post some pics of it.

thought id give this a little update: frame is still needing to be finished, but that shouldnt take me long....will probably work on that tomorrow. ill get then engine+turbo kit parts back next week some time...then can start mocking up the pump!

this pump has turned into a bit of a hassle, finding more info out about it and its not promising AS IS, it will need a bit of work before it can be usable. this came off of a big generator so it has a really strange fueling set up...115cc of fuel at 600rpm engine speed...(when the generator is at "idle" with no load) and then the 340cc at 1400rpm engine speed..(when it has a load on it). it needs a new set of different barrels and plungers for it to drop the idle down to 15cc ish...it just so happens that i found a 160hp p7100 pump off a cummins for a "core" so i will snag the b&p's out of that and the governor unit off it as well. this pump is supposed to be here on the 12th. then i will need to find 2 more b&ps as i have 8 cylinders.

on another note, does anyone know if this ford 9" rear is the "big bearing" or "small bearing? axle?

Its coming along man. How much fuel are you aiming for after you mod that pump?

The 9 inch with tapered bearings should be the big one. That's the rear I've seen at the strip behind the fast cars.Of course thay were probably a lot lighter LOL.

340 is a lot of fuel! That would be enough fuel for probably over 800hp. That is some power in an idi.

Wouldn't a 9" snap under that much torque? I would think that something bigger would be needed due to the torque produced.

The housing would need to be braced and probably a nodular center section with a Daytona pinion support.

who needs a turbo sticking through the hood when you injection pump is big enough to!

are you going to run stock injectors? and are you going to check and make sure that they can flow that much? it would kinda suck to get it running and hit wot and blow a like or something because the injector restricted the flow too much.

He's going to have probably close to $2,000 tied up into that 9"

it will need trussed, boxed perches, currie 3rd member, 35spline shafts

If you aren't willing to drop the coin on the 9".... find a semi-float sterling or something.

Interesting. I knew that a 9" could handle power but I didn't know what they would do with that much torque, even fully built. That is a lot of $$$ on an axle for sure though...
