Where is a good place to get this engine cleaned up and tested for cracks? I want to get the heads and intake tested, also. What kind of cost am I looking at?
I`d prefer dark blue to match the 69 F100 but grey or black would do. Seat covers are an option too.
Trent, North Side Automotive or Precise in Saskatoon are as good as any I think, not many automotive machine shops left in town now. Strip it all down first, depending on the cost I wouldn`t bother to check the intake for cracks if you can find another one cheaper.

Well I got the 390 to turn over a bit. I'm very pleased with the deal so far as it looks like an excellent engine to rebuild. Of course you never know for sure until it goes into the machine shop.
That`s great that you can save it. I have a couple of 360 FE blocks laying around, which I think are the same as a 390 block.
Yes, the 360 and 390 blocks are the same. Different crankshaft stroke. of course you can bore and stroke a 360 block out to be very near a 428. If you're feeling really ambitious you can ad a set of performance heads, but really, isn't all that just overkill?
