baldwin BF7725 and hutch/harpoon mod

Ordered in a baldwin bf7725 filter, plan on doing the hutch/harpoon tomorrow. BUT looking at it, the opening is 5/16 and the hose I have is 3/8. VERY loose.. Will this clamp down enough or is there a 3/8 version out there?

Thanks!

Others have been successful, but mine tended to weep. Plus I did not like the idea of installing a restriction in a 3/8 system. I also tried a Hebmueller variant with brass inserts so I could torque the clamps a bit, but it still wept. I ended up using $4 Fram G3s, at least it is still clear(ish) and 3/8.

If someone has a pn for something like the Baldwin in 3/8, I'd looove to see it.

Will install this as a temp solution tomorrow then pick up a fram g3 the following day. The place I got this at is a truck store and has a large selection of fram stuff.

Thanks

Been here before?

Baldwin makes several in 3/8", but all are metal.

BF1052
BF1173
BF836

If see-through is mandatory, you're SOL in Baldwin.

Thanks!

Not mandatory, just be nice to see when it starts getting dirty. Not sure how clean the interior of my tank is. Guess I will find out when looking at the pickup filter.....

Been there before. Way back when there was a ferry and now a bridge from the main land. My freinds family owned a hotel on the North side called the Blue Fin. His mom lived in the red house on the point.

I used a NAPA Gold 3003 when I did mine a couple of weeks ago. So far it seems fine. 3/8 lines and see though.

The fuel pump is only 5/16, so where is the restriction?

I have had those fram G filters collapse and starve my truck.

My suggestion is to use a (WIX-rated for mercedes diesel fuel systems) 33007 5/16 just before the fuel pump. A few inches of 5/16 between the filter and the pump. Use a barb and reduce the 3/8 to 5/16 for the infeed of the filter.

Several of us use a similar set-up.
