New to me truck questions
I posted a longer version on the 99-16 story duty page but after scrolling 5+ pages of topics I don't see much for the 11-16 gen. So I'll post here since some is 6.7 specific. Picked up a
2013 6.7 f250 xlt last week. Deleted jamo pipe. S&b intake 50-75 tune.
the ambient air in the cluster is displaying ---f even after sensor requirement. Which is another issue but could be related.
I came from a n 04 6.0. when Slow speed light to moderate acceleration it knocks/ hammers allot like my 6.0 idling accelerating. Which I don't mind the sound just don't know if something is wrong or if it's normal. After like 25 it takes off like a rocket as much as you want and it's relatively quiet. Minus the pipe. Is this normal for the 6.7? Is it the difference between the vvt i had and this vgt? Meaning turbo lag is lugging the motor? Does the motor care what the mirror says the temp is out lack there of? Being a 13 would it still have the ceramic bearings i read the 11-12 had? Not knowing the truck is there an easy way to tell if it's updated? Without digging in all in can see is the fomoco on the intake side of that defines anything. Any help would be great. Don't know enough about this one yet trying to learn like in did with the 6.0.

I hope you got the tuner, the factory tunes and all the emissions stuff from the original owner.
It is most likely a problem with your tunes and tuner.
The S and B intake is likely causing something because it deleted a sensor or something. Have to discuss with S&B imho.
If you read around there are a couple of threads recently of owners who have deleted trucks without the tuners and such taking their trucks in to ford for work.
These people were unaware that most things start with software updates to the pcm, wiping out the tunes that deleted the truck. Now they have a truck they cant drive.
Find all the stuff that was deleted and the tunes and tuner/factory tunes asap. Unfortunatly I would also advise you get something to monitor the EGT's at least since the factory safe parameters are no longer in place.
You will need to carry these items with you if you travel long distances with this truck.

When I called the shop. They said there was no tuner given to the last owner. They program the tune and that's it. I asked about going back to stock. He said I can't because it's been deleted. So running around in circles I have up. He obviously doesn't have anything to help me nor want to. He said tuners like that went out back when h&s went out of business. He said if I didn't like the tune just write another one over it. I could see I want going to get anywhere with him.
having tunes aside what's the actual answer
That noise isn't normal?
Whats the tell tale that a turbo is going bad?

In appreciate your opinion. But I'm not that scared of it. There's no cel saved it's only a noise. Which could be normal. If it's been deleted for 100k+ miles with no issues I'm not dwelling on the fact I can't get back to stock. I bought my 6.0 with 300k when most would run away. Learn how to drive it without breaking it.
to your previous point putting on a monitor. Just haven't gotten yet. Only had the truck a week

Thanks for the pessimism. Was looking around asking questions on a FB forum. Learned about forscan and the ability to download as built parameters from Ford take it back to stock. Then disable what I need for the lack of equipment. Just what I'm looking for! Thanks a ton I never would have looked at this versatile tool before. Going to use the Android app and an old phone for a monitor. All in at $110 for lifetime monitoring and support and tunes. Plus I can use it on multiple vehicles. Everything happens for a reason. Thanks for you input to get me here!!
