So dad came home last night with another £200 worth of stuff

New brake shoes for the front -

And FINALLY the gasket set for the engine -

So now I can put it on all 4 wheels, and rebuild the engine!!

I finally got the motor on the engine stand! I was a bit worried about the weight of it so I've put some wood in the front to prop it up, it's one hell of an engine!

Then I set out stripping it down, once again, everything was easy, so far...

I had a bit more chance to work on the engine today and yesterday, I'll let the pics do the talking!

After the block was stripped of its ancillaries, I thought I'd start cleaning bits up! First up was the intake manifold -

If you look closely, you'll see the fuel pump tower (left) is bent, I don't know how of why but I've managed to get it straight (ER) but I'm gonna have to look out for a new one!! It doubles as the oil filler stalk too, so it needs a good seal or it'll **** oil everywhere! Which isn't good!

The girlfriend even came round, and she's taken the intake in as a personal task! I think I'll let her do it from start to finish, including paint so she can see what a Nightmare it is to restore this stuff!

And this is one of the fuel pipes, ill get an after shot tomorrow!

I'm sorry i've been neglecting you all of updates!

Had a little free time, so took a little trip to the engine shop to sneak a peek!

The crank -

And a close up of one section! No score marks or any sign of wear! -

And the underside and inside of the block -

You can see the cam there, inside the block! None of this OHC stuff

And here's one of the bores! This is the worst of all of the 8 -

When I got back I started refurbish more stuff! Starting with the coil bracket -

Found a little crack in it! So will have to bust the welder out tomorrow!

Nice to see you hard at work. Wish I was... Work gives me no time to play, but does "give" me the money to do it. Vicious cycle...

Hi buddy!

Sorry For the lack of updates! I've been moving workshops and i haven't really had time for the old truck!

However, I did get the block back from the builders to clean. I'll post some pics later on!
