Yesterday, my the clutch pushrod (where the interlock switch is clipped on) broke, where it connects to the pedal crossbar assembly -the darn thing is made of plastic! why plastic for a moving part, irks the heck out of me! I havent' really looked at it yet (Till my next day off) nor have i done this kind of work before. My question is, can we just replace that connector end of the pushrod(like a screw-in type) or is it one of those things wherein you have to replace the entire clutch master cylinder. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Are you talking about the bushing between the MC pushrod and the pedal's bellcrank? The rest is steel. Did the hairpin come out and let the pushrod slip off the bellcrank?
thanks for the reply, and yes it's the part of the pushrod that connects to the pedal bell crank(i guess that's what it's called). The rod is steel alright, but the end that connects to the crank is plastic. Anyways i called a co-worker's husband who manages a local Ford dealership parts department here and he told me that, yes i will have to replace the clutch master cylinder--luckily he is selling it to me at their cost-$66.00, not a bad deal i guess. again, thanks for the reply.
