Suffice it st say that I am not happy with any of this aftermarket garbage. Seems like they throw anything out there, irregardless of quality issues. I have thought building my own from existing beams would be best way, but i did not know if the beams were heat treated and maybe the welding would not work right. So your truck had sectioned and rewelded beams and it worked OK?

No , thinkin of how I could do it with stock , our beams are forged and they say not to heat at all , they cold bend them for camber issues . Be nice to cut them at the spindle a inch or two back then weld a plate to that and make them adj up and down with correct camber , no one has done that yet . Wish I could draw it . Oh also another plate to the spindle end .

Now that's what I would like a slide in fit without any detectable play.
I did a front end for a friends family ranch truck, you could
wiggle the pin and place .040" drill bit beside the pin. Camber was sick
plus no wedge pin. Pick-N-Pull beams plus new king pin kit I became a GOD
to them with free wine. This was a 67 at the family winery, grand dads rig.
The secret is use bronze bushings and ream with a king pin reamer made for this purpose only not your standard adjustable reamer. Lucky me I have a .860" king pin reamer somewhere within my stuff (wife calls crap).

I have 3" DJM (read earlier posts) not sure about quality of kingpin tube inner diameter yet. Will post after I get it in there to see if I have to uas an oversized kingpin to fix their sloppy work.

Angry Dream Beam (or NIGHTMARE BEAMS)

Still have not installed. I got the frame painted and need to get the kingpin bushings reamed before proceeding further. I think we are going to insert some 0.003" shim stock in alongside the pins in the beams. I WISH AFTERMARKET COMPANIES WOULD MAKE DECENT PARTS!!!!!!!! After measuting everything, the holes are 0.010" oversized from factory. That would be great if this was a beam for a 67-72 as they make a 0.010" oversize kingpin for those. They do not make one for the 73-79 beams.

If anyone is interested I have pics of the AIM and DJM beams side by side in my gallery. I haven't gotten around to installing them, but I think I am going to go with the DJM beams and the AIM tie rod relocators. I don't have a set of the DJM relocators, but having seen a set, I wasn't real impressed. I'll have to check the king pin hole diameters to see what they are.

Those look like AIM beams, not cut and re-welded OEM beams.

I like more drop and a little cheaper price with aim , heard so many stories about aim and not liking them , I like the construction of them better , seems the king pin holes are never perfect on both . Seen alot of trucks with aim beams and owners with no problems . Keep changing my mind about which 1s to buy , also waiting on marz project .
