so i bought a 2001 F-250 with 150,000 miles. ran strong for about a month then all hell broke loose. so far I have replaced the following:
-valve cover gaskets
-glow plugs
-both batteries
-cps
-icp
-all turbo gaskets and o-rings
-turbo pedestal with ebpv delete (oil was leaking out of ebpv and was cheaper to delete)

my question is if these are usual malfunctions for this truck with the miles or if the previous owner just beat the brakes off it and never took care of it?

also with the ebpv deleted and a TS 6 position chip installed, will i see and major differences in the everyday operation of the truck?

Sounds typical, just be sure to carry a spare CPS in your glove box it can go out at any time. My truck only likes the blue one for some reason it will not run properly with any other one. I put a DP tuner woke the truck right up you should see good results, mine sits on 80 Econo most the time and its plenty of power. As for what you replaced its normal in most of the posts you'll read. Good luck! I love my truck and I had the same experiences you have, bought it from a punk kid and thought he beat the crapp out of it (which he probably did) and didn't take particular care of it, I think. But now after a little TLC and some work its nice and I haven't had to many problems except for my post today. =(

I have 137K and I believe the previous owner replaced the valve cover gaskets already but no documentation to prove it.
-glow plugs
I just replaced mine, 6 of them had either open resistance or 119 so mine needed replacing
-both batteries
When I purchased the truck it had optima's since then I have put one set in and hadn't had any issues
-cps
Yep mine just went out one day the truck just stoped
-icp
I had oil in my connector and just replaced it
-all turbo gaskets and o-rings
Just did mine as preventative maintenance
-turbo pedestal with ebpv delete (oil was leaking out of ebpv and was cheaper to delete)

So with me having 137K miles, it seems normal to have those items needing replacement. I don't have my hane's manual so i am not sure what it says for those items.

 

that makes me feel better. i thought this truck was just going into a melt down. its been in and out of the shop for 6 weeks now because as soon as one was fixed something else would go. thanks again
