Yeah, that's correct. At least if I understand you correctly.

As an example: tongue weight is 600 lbs, and you transfer 25% (150 lbs) of that back to the trailer axles with the WDH. Now you add the weight of the hitch itself (say 150 lbs). Now you are back to the 600 lbs you started with that need to be accounted for in your payload.

So it looks like that puts me within 200# of the max payload. All other numbers look good. Any variance on trailer or truck weight, and I will run out of payload.

Still working on my truck purchase. I've dropped the HD Payload package, as we don't expect to get into a TT, let alone a heavy one in any foreseeable future.

Here is what I am looking to build, as nobody seems to have any.

2012 F-150 FX4
Ecoboost
157" Wheelbase
Ingot Silver with 18" wheels
Max Trailer Tow Package
FX Plus Package
LT 275/65R18 C Tires

Undecided
Rearview camera
FX Running Boards

Thoughts?

Does anyone have a similarly equipped FX4 with the long wheelbase? If so, what is your stated payload number on the yellow tag sticker?

How durable are the backup cameras on the tailgates?

Haven't heard of too many issues but sure makes it nice backing up, especially to a trailer ball.

I have a backup camera on my F-350 and it sure does make trailer hitching a breeze while doing it alone.

That is money well spent.

I found out last night that my FX4 Max Tow build is $1000 more than the XLT HD Payload build. Hmmm...

FX Luxury package is probably what pushed the price up. Seems like bling costs more than function on these rigs.

I just ordered a 2012 F150 FX4 with Tow pkg. The FX4 doesnt have the Max Payload as an option. I wish I could have gotten both the tow and the max payload

Does anyone know if the bucket/rear seats are different between an XLT and an FX4, cloth excluded?

Anyone heard if the 2013 FX4 will have the availability of the HD Payload package?

Okay, so I have a line on an FX4 built in February of 2012. It has everything that I would order except for color and maybe rear camera. The downside, is it's 10 hours away. And, my local dealer, with camera, and price increases on the engine and truck, is still cheaper.

Looks like it's time to place an order. Finally!!

I ran numbers again with a different potential TT, Passport 190EXP, and everything will work out nicely. The other trailer, Outback 210RS, would be likely to push us over the payload limit. In the end, I will get the FX4 and the capability to pull a desired trailer in the future.

Now, it's just down to color. Ingot Silver, Sterling Gray, Black, White. All of them look nice with the 18" wheels.

Almost everybody underestimates the payload number. My door sticker says 2,238 lbs, but when I went to the scales, I really only have just under 2,000 available. Just something to keep in mind, especially when talking travel trailer and camping gear.
What did you assume for the tongue weight?

Dry, it's 375#. At GVW of trailer, 5200#, a 15% TW would be 780.

With people, topper, trailer (max GVW), gear, I still get about 200# of payload in the truck. And I doubt I would be putting 1700# of gear in the trailer.

Or, I just order the XLT HD, and have plenty of payload headroom. When you said you had just under 2000# of payload, what was in/on the truck from when you took delivery?

No, I unfortunately never went to the scales right after taking delivery. Here is what I have added before getting that number (1,980 lbs):
- spray in bedliner
- coverking seat covers front & rear
- truxedo lopro tonneau
- bed rails
- floor mats
- a few misc items in center console, nothing heavy
- a full tank of gas, and I was in the truck.
