98 Expedition Front axle
Hey guys, I have a 98 Expedition, I replaced the left front bearing assembly with little problem but the right side is proving difficult. The problem is the axle shaft won't slide out of the old hub. Seems to be in there good, I used a 3 lb hammer and only succeeded in buggering the end of the shaft, now I get to file it down to get the nut on. I then went to Partsource and got a puller and promptly broke it. The axle still won't move, I would hate to buy a new shaft.
I am gone for the weekend so I will respond on monday.
Thanks for any ideas you guys have.

The complete axle is like 50 dollars from autozone, I messed up the Cv boot using heat to break the ball joint loose and had to replace it. You could try removing the bolts on the end, I don't remember what size they are but make sure to use a 12 point socket. You should be able to shift it enough to heat it up hit it with pb blaster and knock the hub off.

lol, yes I did.
I am heading out for the weekend with the family about 300 miles. I didn't put the axle nut back on since the shaft is in so tight I figure nothing will happen on the highway. Only 2 of the 3 bolts from the hub assembly went in smoothly so I left one off, saves me time next week. I will bring it with me on the trip in case I need it though. I didn't tighten anything down too much wouldn't want to make more work for myself next week
