Wrangler Dual Battery Install in a V-10 X

I got my Wrangler dual battery kit in the mail this week. I took some pics as I went along. I don't have the 2nd batter yet, so I got the tray in place, etc tonight.

Connector just clears the new tray.
Kit provided some hose parts.

I pulled the original hose off and just used the 90 degree hose.
Added a couple hose clamps

There were no pics of what to do. The hose isn't pinched - looks good to me.

Original and then with tray in place.

I am holding off on the wiring until I get the battery.

So far - the kit looks first class.

I got it from Dirty Parts in LA. Super helpful and the kit is on sale right now. Took 2 weeks to get it.

More pics later - might be a week or so before I can wrap it up.

That is a great write up, and set of pictures.

That is a mod that I have considered, especially for camping.

If you do not mind me asking; what does that kit go for?

How much time do you have invested in it?

Thank you,

-JR

.

The kit is on sale right now, here is the sale price and contact info:

Darin –

Just noticed we have the dual battery kit on sale – the #WPP-100330000 kit is now $349.95 plus approx $25.00 for shipping….I’ll have the on-line price corrected in case you would like to order it…

Sorry for the confusion,

Larry

I spent an hour or two up to this point. I figure a couple more hours to put the battery in, run the cables around the engine compartment, mount the controller inside, etc.

So far, I am impressed with the kit.

Yeah I have been considering this mod myself. Does it only use 1 battery at a time?, does it switch batteries automatically or just by the switch Im assuming your running into the passenger compartment? Thanks for the info.

It has a switch that switches between then or both.

Page 12 has the kit on it.

http://www.wranglerpower.com/Wrangle...20Products.pdf

There are 3 modes:

DUAL ON. This is the normal operating position. The switch is in this position
until you need to go to DUAL OFF or EMER - GENCY mode.
In this position, the vehicle starts only with the main battery. When the engine is running, both batteries are being charged. However, the batteries are isolated from each other when the ignition switch is in OFF, START, or ACCESSORY position. The LED is green.

DUAL OFF. In this position, only the main battery is being charged. The circuits con - nected to the AUXILIARY battery still func - tion. If the auxiliary battery becomes
dead or defective, it is disconnected from the Main battery, avoiding potential dam - age to the alternator or to the main battery.

EMERGENCY ON. In this position, both bat - teries are connected. In the event the mo - tor is disabled, both batteries can be used for activities such as winching and battery boosting. If the main battery
is low, you can even jump-start without getting out of the vehicle.

I just got the second battery. Maybe Sunday or Monday I can finish up the install.
