Painting OEM Mud Flaps

New member here, recently bought a 2011 F-250 CC Lariat diesel.

I bought some OEM mud flaps from my local Ford dealer and thought it would be nice if they were the body colour. The dealer said he would paint them for me, but he cautioned against it because, he says, the pebbled finish will prevent them from becoming sufficiently scuffed to promote proper paint adhesion, even if he ads a plasticizer to the paint.

Anyone have any experience to corroborate or disprove that?

Thanks,
Chuck
