Good advice here!

I think that I will def. get a diesel if I can find one in my price range. I don't tow anything as of now, but having the potential to do so easily is a nice thing to have. I live in phoenix, and we like to travel up to flagstaff a lot, and the 250 mile trip on the free way is a gas waster. Getting better fuel economy is def. a plus. Now i have a 1977 C20 camper special (I know its a chevy ) but its the kind of truck my old man had when I was a kid, and I get horrible gas mileage out of it. Maybe 10 mpg. I can watch the gauge go down while driving. I will be selling that, and using some leftover school money towards the new f 250 .

Ain't nothing wrong with a chevy, as long as it doesn't have a 305 under the hood. lol I don't know the specs on the 6.5L chevy turbo diesel but it's a good puller and not as expensive as a powerstroke but likely not as powerful either, probably closer to the 7.3IDI turbo. Think I'd rather have a cummins though if I couldn't get the PS.

ha, no it doesn't have the 305, it has a 350. If I was going to keep it, Id eventually put a 454 in it. But, me not being to knowledgeable with wrenching on trucks, a 77 has its fair share of things to be tinkered with, and it really adds up going to the mechanic all the time. If I could keep it, and still get the f250 I would, as my daughter who is 8, really loves the old truck, but I will need that money to put towards the new one.

When I was looking for my truck I found an '84 K30 454/th400. I was going to use it for a while then strip the drivetrain and swap it all into my '84 blazer and slap on a set of 44"s but it was a regular cab and I had a tuff time squeezing behind the wheel comfortably. I'm 6'2" and I like to have a lot of legroom.

Wow, a k30? You don't see those very often here in Az. I couldn't even find me a c20 camper special down here that wasn't beat to hell, used as a landscaping truck. The c20 I have came from WA, it has a little rust, but nothing major. I was looking for a 4wd camper special, but couldn't find one.

My 96 460 truck will out run my 97 PSD truck. No question about it.

Yes they are BOTH modified. But even in stock format my 460 truck was no slouch

Chevy 6.5L ain't bad but no aftermarket support, think the IDI's have more. If you wanna a truck cheap look at the auctions. Thats what I did bought a '95 F-250 Supercab 4x4 PSD for $1500.00, ya you read that right. Has a ton of miles but well taken care of. Just needs some small body work and minor interior tweaking, but it's a runner and thats what I needed.
