Just Ordered a 2012 F250 XLT 4x4 SC - Questions for the Hive

Ordered a 6.2 L, 3.73, short box this weekend with the camper, snow plow, and off road packages. Vehicle height without options is 79.5". Anyone know what the height increase will be with these options? Is this thing going to be a "flying brick" going down the road?

Regardless of the height, they are flying bricks. I would suspect there would be a small difference in height, but from what I've heard, the F250's with the camper/snow plow prep pkg's sit pretty much level, so anything you put in the bed will make it look like it's squating more than it probably is. You can alleviate it (if it's annoying to you) by throwing a set of F350 blocks or air bags under it.

Congrats on the order, you'll love the truck.

If I were you I would skip the 3.73 gears and go with a lower gearing package. Idk how they are set up on the 2012's but that is one thing I wish I had gotten when I ordered mine.

From what Ive been reading, the 3.73s work well with the new 6 speed trans. But if I was ordering, I'd still get 4.30s.

Why the 4.30 gears over the 3.73?

i tested both the 373 and the 430 before i bought mine. i didnt think there was a noticeable change in how it rode/drove. so unless you tow there wont be that much of a difference.
also, i really don't think there will be more or less stress on the driveline.
i have the snow plow pkg and it sets level.

I'm going larger on the tires after I burn these Michelin's off so I didn't want to lose too much performance. The mpg's between the 3.73's and 4.30's is so small with the 6spd that the extra grunt from the 4.30's was worth having to me.

I try not to worry too much about mpg's though, I knew what I was getting into.
