Alum roof basket

I know there has been a lot of talk lately about guys searching for, making roof top baskets.

I had to go to the local wreckers today to get a side grill insert and spotted an alum roof top basket. It is designed to fit on the rails on top of a passenger van body, but could be modified to fit the X rails easily.

The only catch, it is in the Yukon, but would work well if you where travelling thru to Alaska. Theses would probably run in the thousands to make, or get made.

is it the flares on the fenders that makes the hood look short and sloped or is that a modified hood?

This is my plan:
Yakima Mega Warrior Yakima Mega Warrior
with extension(s):
Yakima Mega Warrior extension Yakima Mega Warrior extension
with a tire carrier:
 Yakima Tire Carrier Yakima Tire Carrier
and maybe the fairing:
 Yakima Fairing Yakima Fairing
to help with aerodynamics...

That is, unless I get a sudden windfall, then I'm totally building a complete roof system mounted to the frame with ladders so that we can sit up on top with lawn chairs like someone did on here.

Possibly two. I need to measure and see. I want it to extend the entire length.

Nice full alum box with walk side rails that could be cut off. About 4.5ft x 8 ft dimensions
