I agree the current state of durability is not what I would expect either. I just ordered a roll of tape after looking at my harnesses for Chris. Too many areas frayed.

The little roll in my picture is 88, I tend to use that for many applications. A rubber tape too.

You're catching me flat footed on the green stripe loom. I know of colors, blue striped and grey striped. Grey is often what I used at the test site for those times where bundles got loomed. The grey is the nylon with a 257F rating. We just didn't need a lot of loom, I think I bought a reel that we used for 12 years.

Where we got it is where I've still continue to get a lot of electrical things, Waytek or McMaster. I usually go McMaster if I need it next day.

The 3M 2228 is not a cheap product, but I do use it a lot, probably overkill. If I forgot to add heat shrink, I will cut two pieces. Lay one up-side-down with the release off, lay the wire or wires embedded into it lengthwise, then lay the second over so I have "flags" to the sides. Not the prettiest, but it's waterproof and durable. I've also used it to anchor tape wrap at the end, to make sure everything bonded. It's worth to get a roll and play to see if you have application for it.

Son's birthday tomorrow. We stopped and looked at a single cab 4x4 powerstroke at a private sale. It's pretty nice lots of custom stuff. There where a bunch of other people there too. I think I sold my truck to somebody there........I'll know tomorrow. I threw a number and told him I wouldn't budge.

Sean,

No I don’t. I bought one item from them during my entire life, but they just haven’t been a go to source for me, not on the radar.

I "looked" but did not find any green stripe. But they said call if you need help.
So people in need might find that helpful.

Since we're on a path ....

Not pretty, but if you want to go to the ridiculously high temp stuff, there's always ceramic braid.

We used it on situations were brake pads would burn from high temps with air disc.

Black electrical that will hopefully look similar to what else is under the Honda's hood. The loom is over by the fender and goes to the firewall - not too close to engine. I think I need to go back to the thread I posted here when it 1st was discovered (the answer is likely in there I just forgot). I don't think it is in a particularly hot area, but that is just a guess.

The Scotch brand tape I bought was on the shelf at NAPA and I'm P. O.'d at myself that I can't find it so I can tell you what it was for sure, maybe it is the 88.

I'm sorry my responses are slow -- I'm still at my folks and only get on once in a while, plus I'm dealing long distance with a very serious (litigation) issue with my wife (about our house, just to answer that Q before it is asked).

I think the best tape will need to be mail ordered from what I am gathering... I could stop by that same NAPA store and see what they have on my way home tomorrow...

Thanks for all your help,
Scott

Scott,

No urgency. Take care of personal issues, this stuff is minor.

It took me awhile but I am putting the heads back on the truck. I was cleaning the block and it was somewhat easier than I thought. I cleaned with razer blade (with gasket remover handle), then I used the red 3m pad to scrub off the rest. There were a lot of coolant and oil in the bolt holes. I had to use a kid's medical dropper to get them out. Even that, I still had to use q-tips to get the rest. Then I sprayed brake cleaner and blow them out with air, and repeat a few times.

Using lint free towel, I wipe the surface off after sprayed with brake cleaner. However, the lints are still there, stick to sharp edges. What do you use to have a "final" wipe?

Anyway, I have a question, the push rods all have near half way some scratch marks. I suppose that's where it's grinding against the gasket's routing holes (or whatever those are called). Are this rods any good anymore? If they're not bent, can I still use them?

If it were me I would not of used any scrub pads. They can create pathways to
things to leak through.

You might test a tack cloth to see if that will remove any lint and not make
matters worse.

I use vacuum and air hose to blow them away, but the final one is a bit "tough". I watched
and he wiped it out with shop cloth (sprayed with cleaner). I wonder what are the people have used that are proven to work.
