RTV and gasoline are not compatible. They don't say anything about using it with diesel. I don't like using RTV with any type of fuel.

What are you trying to seal?

ya the other day mine started REALLY pissing fuel out of that fitting. it does it as soon as you start the engine. then when you shut the engine off you can hear it sucking in a good amt of air.

There is a special type of pipe sealant specifically made for use in fuel applications, gas, natural, diesel, etc.
If your fitting and threads are in good shape, this stuff will do the trick. I think its called Harvey Seal.

I used it on all of the fittings on my aux fuel tank and pump and haven't had a leak in 8 years so far.

I bought it from an electrical and plumbing store. Might look at Home Depot or Lowes.

And just for the record teflon tape is a no no in fuel systems. It comes apart and finds its way into places it shouldnt. Loctite 518 works well.

Are you sure it doesn't seal with an o-ring insted of sealant. It may be o-ring boss instead of npt.

from what i've read, those are supposed to have an "olive" to seal them, basically an o-ring made of rectangular stock. sealant may get by for awhile, but its best to figure out what the factory intended and go with that.
as for RTV, i was under the impression that it was dissolved by the alcohol in gasoline, and since i've never found non-alcohol gas, i've always avoided it with gas. never thought to try it with diesel

the brass 90*fitting goes into an adapter that threads into the to of the IP. i am trying to seal the threads on the 90* fitting. they are clearly NPT to.

Ok just making sure, if the regular way of sealing/or assembling doesn't work I usually find its because I'mgoing it the wrong way.
