Hey Leroy,
Welcome Aboard! We've got a 1950 F1 with the same "older style" bed, etc. We replaced all of our fenders with fiberglass as our's were 90% Bondo 10% steel. I was pleasantly surprised with how thick & solid the fenders are - not flimsy or cheap.
They are not exactly plug & play - you have to massage them a bit to get all the gaps down to tolerances you want. You also have to get the "welting" stuff to go between the fender & the body... We also replaced our running boards & went with steel on those.
We used Midwest Early Ford for our body parts - They were very easy to work with.
Good luck over there. Here is a pic of our '50 with fiberglass fenders for inspiration.

Hey Leroy,
All of our fenders are fiberglass. We were looking at a mountain of work to get them anywhere near decent & they would never have been smooth like the new fiberglass.
A "Before" picture of our fenders. Do you have pics of what you are working with? Might be good to let the guys see what you have to see if it's fixable.

Ben's pics seem to show the standard rust issues (mine were identical without the 1/2" of filler - that was impressive).
I had never done bodywork before, but figured I had nothing to lose. I thought they came out well. Just cut out the rust with a 4 1/2" grinder, make a paper pattern, cut out a patch out of 16 or 18ga sheetmetal, and then slowly tack in the patches with a wire feed welder. There are several good articles here on the process.
Once done, a little grinding and a small amount of body filler and you are good to go.

I can take some pictures if you would like , but yours look at least 100% better than mine haha. Also , I think my fron clip was sanded down to bare metal and left outside afterwards for like 10 years. They are extensively pitted all over as well. No paint on them anywhere my rear ones aren't too bad tho. I am just thinking , at $250 for a new one , its more time effective for ke to just work a day or 2 extra at my job to pay for new ones. I'll get a thread up here soon of what I am working with. I got my truck off of a guy with 4 storage units loaded with parts for these trucks. I spent 2 days going through them to get a complete truck together. My bed is spotless and in awesome condition. Some parts I lucked out on , and some I just couldn't find an agreeable part. I got 2 tailgates that are in pretty rough shape , but ill see what I can do. I'll post a threat this weekend. Hope you guys don't mind a lot of pictures lol.

Sorry for the typos , my phone is tricky to type on. As far as my skills. I went to school for auto body , and spent 8 years as a welder/fabricator/machine builder , and the last 10 year's doing industrial maintenance. So I feel pretty competent with a welder. These things just need so much work that I am better off buying new ones in my opinion
