Thinking About using Jeep hood latches on outside of 79 Bronco to keep tail gate closed!

 

Thats not a bad idea, mine is held on by these:


I was told by the PO that those were to keep it from rattling when he was out camping... The reason it rattled is cause the latches don't work and it is only held up by the window without those latches.

 

Have you tried replacing the strikers on thos latches? maybe the lock isn't grabbing fine because the nylon striker is gone (that's what usually happens with later Broncos with this issue).

 

Well i noticed when i click the latches down like their normally supposed to be they don't re-open when i pull the handle, i think something is broken with the levers. Maybe this sunday i will look at it a bit. There is a hole that was drilled a little bigger than a 50 cent coin kind of under the handle and there is some sore of hook or something stick up a tiny bit. I will get pictures of my confusing description. If i can get them to work the i will need to play with the striker pegs to line them up. I don't think they have a nylon sleeve anymore either.
