Maybe it will get better as we go... The shop thought we could run a Cherry Bomb vs the resonator, but felt it would be louder...
Try the cherry bomb. Cherry bombs are loud when they're the only muffler... if you're running 2 mufflers, that's a whole different story.

I doubt its mufflers fault. Sounds to me like the y-pipe has been modified and/or no cat. Without any pics of the system or any real idea what you have its next to impossible to know. I do know with the stock manifolds if you put on an SPD y-pipe or get rid of the stock necked down y-pipe it can really make some stupid sounds and drive you mad. Been there myself. The root cause is the horrible stock manifolds.

resurecting this old thread (Wish i would have seen it before) Just put a 70 bb on my excursion everything else is stock. Drones like crazy! makes the whole truck vibrate when it does. I hate it. Exhaust shop is recomending a resonator as well. Really dont know what to do. maybe a magnaflow. I really dont want to hear the exhaust at all.

Those of you with the dynomax vt...how have they held up longevity wise? has the batting worn out? or flapper valve died?

I paid to have a flowmaster replaced on a prev truck,
muffler guy said its the housing vibration that causes the drone, not sure if his reasoning was correct but sure was nice to be rid of that noise
and I used to be the guy with the loud rides

same reasons mine went back to stock, the drone and sound was past that of a 4 banger fart can, way to hard on ones ears both inside and out side
