Refurbishing 1965 F100 heater box
#16
I'm in the process of restoring the heater box on my '66 and my only question was with the location of the oval shaped foam gasket that goes around the heater core nipples. Does it go under the metal cover or does it go outside the cover to help seal against the inside/cab side of the firewall? I couldn't see any evidence of where the old one was located.

Thanks Schuyles!
I plan on tackling mine today since when I removed the heater hoses to replace them, I noticed the heater core is flopping around inside the heater box.
I see D Carpenter has a heater seal kit specific to several trucks but the 65-66 f100 kit Part #: C5TZ-18500-A doesn't contain very much. I plan on purchasing the 66-77 Part #: C6TZ-18565-S Bronco kit as was done in this thread.
Thanks to everyone in this thread for sharing.

For some reason I can't get the pics to enlarge.
I'll wait for your pics after you have completed yours.
Thanks

SjoDon, I received the kit today. Here's a diagram of the seal placements. I've scanned it for you and will try and include it to this post. The asterisks show the location for each pc.

I bought mine from Tom's Bronco. I believe this is the same as DC's C6TZ-18565-S and is cheaper at $16.95.
In fact, it's on sale right now for $12.95

Tom's also sells the inlet boot kit, which I just ordered. It doesn't match the original, but should do the job.
