Need valve cover

I need the CDR bracket equiped valve cover for my 6.9 diesel. Anyone know where I can find one? I could rob that side off my 94' but I need one for that engine too . I can always cut a hole for it on the cover somewhere and attach an extension, but I don't know if that's a good idea. Anybody ever done that?

That's basically all the ATS valve cover is. It is bowed out a little to clear the rockers but you could easily drill a hole in the one you have and weld a pipe nipple to it and call it a day.

Yeah, you're right. Cheaper to. I didn't know if there was any more to the valve cover than just an outlet pipe but I guess it is a simple enough. Whatever works is fine by me.

There is also a little bracket welded on that the CDR bolts too. You could either fabricate that, or remote mount the CDR and do like eaton said with a pipe nipple.

Another thought is the banks kit used a piece that mounted on the IP gear cover to vent the crankcase. I think they can be found for ~$40 or so. The DIY valvecover is still cheaper.

I might just build that bracket so that the CDR has a place to go. Depends on how much room I'm going to have on top of that engine. And I have a few other things to do to the valve covers so maybe the gear cover would be better. Do you know where I can find the the Banks gear cover part? Maybe I'll do some searching tonight.

I believe you can still buy it directly from Banks. Check out their website, they still sell the whole kit for IDIs.

The might call it something like CDR relocation kit. I got one off ebay last summer that I might end up using with a catch can/crankcase filter I might engineer and I don't think the CDR is a good setup to begin with and I'm sick of seeing oil seep out around the turbo.

I know what you mean. I had a talk with my engine builder a few years ago about that and he thought some carbon build up might be avoided without that oil going through the system. I will probably run mine to a filter at some point myself if only to make myself feel better about it. For a while I had a hose running mine to the ground. Why would I want fumes going back into my engine anyway? All I want is nice cool air .
