ABOUT TO THROW IN THE TOWEL!!!

UP PIPES. Enough said right? I pulled my turbo, which is a job in itself the first time doing it. I go to unbolt the collector from the up pipes and the top bolt holding the right pipe to the collector is stripped!

Whats the best way to go about getting it out?? Keep in mind the VERY limited space between the bolt and the firewall...just getting a wrench in there is rough, not to mention a socket and wrench.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. At this point im almost ready to take the blow to my ego (and wallet) and take it to my shop...

Torch the up-pipes off and buy new ups and collector.
We've done a bunch of them, this seems to be the only solution for a lot of rusted trucks.

Good luck.

They are just not an easy to remove.

I agree with jim.

Do it yourself and get the satisfaction of winning.

Dont forget to replace pedistal/turbo orings, they are not reusable if they are squished.

I just did my up pipes, but I also have the trans out which made it a little easier. If your turbo and pedestal are already off, take out the bolts holding the pipes to the manifold, lift up on collector as high as you can and try to slide the pipes out of the collector. If the donut gaskets are leaking the pipes should slide out.
Here is what I did to my pipes, saved some $

If the above works, then you can put the collector in a vise and work on getting the bolts out of the pipe clamps.

So my best bet is to unbolt from the manifold it sounds like
