ok here is the plan for the engine

1)bore at least 30 over
2)stage 1 injectors from dps
3)a turbo calibrated pump from dps
4)shave the top of the pistons to lower my compression to around 22:1 and get them cryo
5)have nmb2 do the cam
6)replace the exhaust valves with hypermax high temp exhaust valves
7) either use nmb2's turbo design or have him help me build my twin turbo idea
8)arp headstud kit
9) arp mainstud kit
10)i am going to personally port and polish everything

ken from dps is trying to talk me into boring and sleeving my 6.9 to make it a 7.3.... what do you guys think of that?

why you say that 91dirtydiesel? isn't the stock compression around 24:1?

no,
1983 6.9 = 20.7:1
1984+ 6.9 = 21.5:1
7.3l = 21.5:1

the rest sound like it will make a nice running engine!

"Dave S claimed 20:1 with a .050" shave, and Ken/Hypermax claim 17:1 with a .100" shave.

With that info I knew I was somewhere between 18:1 and 18.5:1 with .070" shave and .030" overbore. I couldn't get a hold of Dave S to get pick his brain but Racer30 apparently knows all of the CC's and when I told him I guessed on the CR, he was impressed because he told me I should be @ 18.2:1"

from a post from nmb2

Thanks to idi diesel John I now plan on putting the zf6 trans from the 98-03 powerstroke in to replace the t19 but also thinking ontop of that still adding the gear vendors od and because of all that I know I have to find a newer rear axle and a electronic speedo is there anything else between the speedo and the sensor in the axle?
Also what about the clutch? Idk if it will work with the stock clutch for a 6.9

IMO there's no need to change the rearend, as the gearvendors unit has a speedo drive. on a normal install, you extend the speedo cable to read the output shaft of the GV, so thats still available with the newer trans

ok tomorrow i am buying a parts truck for body parts and a few misc. parts for the rest of the truck...

i have figured my final goals for the truck
1) i want it to be my on-road playtoy (enough power to have fun and race a little)
2) i want the truck to be a DD and towing truck
3) and last but definitely not least i want the truck to be a recovery vehicle for my play toy ( which will be my build after this truck is done)

How are the bed lines? Do they seem to match the cab lines? Wheel wells don't quite match but doesn't look too bad....was thinking of doing this swap too...87+ bed on 86- front...
