So I found this f-5 that I am thinking about purchasing. It runs (has the 6 cylinder). I think the brakes are fine but I would like to replace them. However, I have only worked with F-1s so I am not sure where I can get parts for the F-5. Any and all help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the best old Ford truck site.
Brakes are one of those rarer items for our trucks. I've been told they may be relined, provided there's no need to replace the drums. Also, a supplier in New York has been mentioned repeatedly as a source for parts for the bigger trucks, including brake cylinders for the F5, JobLot Automotive. Haven't needed to use them yet personally. But others will surely come in to help you, and correct me.
Your local NAPA auto parts store will have the majority of the mechanical parts, including brakes. JobLot in NY also carries a lot of bigger truck parts.
FYI... the F5 probably still has the Widowmaker rims. You may want to Google that term.
Job lots usually has most of the brake parts. I know they have the master and wheels cylinders, they usually have the shoe linings also. What you won't find are the brake drums and shoes. You might find a small machine shop that could turn the drums if needed, but I was unable to locate such a shop within 100 miles of me.
I have found rebuild kits for the brakes listed on ebay. I have not bought them though, so I do not know how correct or complete they are.
Brian, if those are the rebuild kits from South America, don't waste your money. I bought two sets from them, 1 for my F5 and one for my 46 Mercury coupe. When they arrived both sets were identical and neither had any of the proper parts for either vehicle.
