Gavin,
It's a Hi-Boy...save it if you can. If you can't, you can always make it mechanically safe and sound and let your son drive it when he get's his license. Just a thought...
Not that I'm giving you a sales pitch to use on your wife or anything...that can change after it's home and you discover the trucks final potential after complete diagnosis.
I agree Gerry. Id have to try and find something not so beat up.
All though theres a lot of aftermarket body parts and panels available. But id still bet spend more get more. Less down time.jmho.
Good morning all!
John - It sounds like your trans issue is mechanical, I would be pushing for a new one. I hope you can get it fixed, I don't think you would be happy with a Fiat.
Sound like your daughter has a great coach!
Those last second basketball plays will get your heart rate up.
Have a great Sunday all!
I think it sounds like it is a electronic problem, but I am no expert. John has stated that it works fine for a few days after the PCM has been flashed. I wish I knew more about the electronics and how it works together with the transmission.
Anyway Gavin, good luck finding a High Boy. I used to own a 76' F250 long box, wish I still had it. I wish I still had every Ford I have owned, LOL. Not enough money and not enough room.
When I crawled under it the, everything looked, shock mouts, cab mounts......but there was a little more than 1/16" of play in the output of the divorced t-case and the input to the front axle. It started and ran good, no smoke, no noise in low range, none of the gauges worked, it has A/C but the compressor is gone. There are some dents in the hood and the back of the cab roof. The grill is in good shape but the front cross member has been used to get the truck unstuck one too many times.
The biggest problem I have is when I do a resto, my tendency is to take something completely apart.

John, Congratulations to the girls.
Cheers
You are right Tim, I forget how much electronic BS is in and wired to the tranny. Could be a bad sillynoid.
