460 EFI Cal Timing cover locate or repair advice...

Hey guys, I'm having trouble locating a good timing cover. Mine has the mounts for the misfire sensor, and I can't locate one anywhere. Next question would be....has anyone ever tried to repair one? Either by welding or a good aluminum epoxy? Also, Isn't there supposed to be an oil deflector behind the seal???

Thanks!
Al

I do appreciate the link, but unfortunately, I can't use that type. Mine has the mounts for the "misfire" sensor cast into it. I don't know how realistic it would be to try and weld those mounts onto a new cover. My truck is a California truck, and has a "trigger wheel" just behind the balancer, and there is a sensor mounted about where the pointer would be on most timing covers. And I can't find one anywhere. I have mine off, I guess I'll bead blast it tonight, and see how it would be to try and repair it.

Sorry Rocket, should have known it wouldn't be that easy.
Were you able to fix (weld?) yours?

If not, what's the casting number on yours?

No worries, I truly appreciate your input. But yes, it seems many things I've gotten involved in don't have a simply solution....lol, but I'm getting used to it. I started cleaning it up last night, and got a little bead (glass) blasting done as well. I think I may use DuraBond to repair it. I've read some on it, and it seems to be a realistic option to welding, might even be a better solution. I talked to a friend over at ford, he couldn't find it quickly, so I told him I'd get the engineering number from it and see if that helps. But I'm scared it's going to be a million dollars since it was a very limited production run, if it's available at all. So I've pretty much resigned to repairing this one.

Any good welding shop with a tig welder could make up the brackets and weld them on.

Obsolete Timing Cover

Just went through the same problem ended up welding it. It worked out well.

The article below sums it up and is also what I found out. Ford Parts Department lists it, $350+ but can't find it in any warehouse.
