why are so many Ford owners dislike Chevy . They both build equal trucks as far as I've seen. At OUR farm we put harder miles on our Chevys than anyone in here puts on their Fords. We have had very good luck with them and I don't see why so many people hate them. Most of wich havent even owned one.

Guess it depends on who you talk to...Some Folks are die hard Ford fans and some people have owned Ford's.Dodge, and Chevy trucks....
Myself I like Ford for the preformance i get out of them..Great on the farm and also take to the mud great...One reason i do dislike Chevy's is because I just really dislike their new styles,They look so "Fake" in the front...But thats just me...I have 120,000 miles on my truck now and it runs like the day I bought it...
I have never owned a Chevy or Gmc so i have no ideal how they preform, handle, and last.....
I do like the Ford looks better, they look more like a truck and not something that tries to apeal to farmer's and soccor mom's
like i think Chevy tired to do with their Avalanche..
Not trying to make anyone mad but i have never seen an Avalanche used on a farm and i know alot of fellow farmers around here..Only people i see driving them are city folks who like the ideal of it being a SUV and Truck...and they love putting those big 20 something inch rims on them...
All and All a truck is made to get muddy and to work...I haul gravel,Lumber,Dirt and anything eles in mine..I don't use it for looks..It's like my CO-Worker and has never let me down

I'll go with you on the new ones being ugly I can't stand them either. We have a 92 ck3500 with 187,000, 02 2500HD(last good looking one) with 12,000, 76 c10 with 97,000 (my hot rod), 76 k10 87,000, and my 68 f250. They are all good running reliable trucks

I'll Also say i do dislike the 04 style that Ford is thinking of putting out....My favorite style is the 97-99 modles..I just wish companys would stick to a truck design instead of the new high-tech looks and whats new and hot....But I ain't on the Ford design team so we will just have to see..
But wait around later on tonight when most of the people are on ,I am sure some people will give you their opinions

I bought a new Chevy full sized V-8 engine, 1/2 ton truck once, because my three year old Pontiac was giving me too much mechanical trouble. When I picked it up, it made a terrible noise and the salesman got someone out there to check it out in the parking lot.
He tightened up some leaking exhaust joints. Actually he wrung off a few bolts, but that's another story. The truck leaked about a 1/2 quart of oil per day. I called the dealer for an appointment and he told me they were backed up with a recall and it would be about six months for an appointment.
I thought 180 days times 1/2 quart equals a lake of 90 quarts of oil in the driveway and I sold the truck that weekend. I swore I'd never own another Chevy or GM product again.
That was in 1969 and 've kept my word so far. If you have good luck with them, you buy them.
Since then I've owned Volkswagens, Mazdas, Porsche and Honda cars, and Ford Full sized Trucks, Aerostar, Nissan, Ranger, etc.

All Ford trucks look great. Best are '67-'79, '92-'96, current SuperDuties, and 2004 F150s (base XL model only). Old Ch**y trucks look good, at least the '60's models do. Most GMC pickups look a lot better than Ch**ys, especially later '90s, but the latest GMC have the stupid slanting Avalanche style headlights that suck. The thing that kills the looks of most Ch**ys is the horizontal bar that splits the grille (which is why GMCs look so much better without that). Old Dodge trucks also look good, but not the '94-'01 Ram, but I do like the new Ram (Mayor).

I have owned all three of the big trucks. I currently own my second Ford and my second GMC. The dodge was a POS so I got rid of it quick.
As for the GMC, If it was to be a daily driver, I would have gotten rid of it a couple years ago. It has given me nothing but trouble. I bought the truck for a project truck as I wanted a full size SUV in a 2wd for a toy. Couldn't find a Bronco in a 2wd, settled for the Jimmy.
Both my Fords were and are great trucks. The first truck had over 200,000 miles on the 302 before I had to replace the motor, and that was on propane. Second one has 160,000 on the 300 and still going strong as I drive over 600 miles a week on it.
Personally I wouldn't buy another GM truck again, unless the price is right. If I am not getting a darn good deal, I will stick with the Fords

For all the GM's I've owned (and still got two of em), my greatest gripe would be poorly designed body hardware and lots of squeaks and rattles. I've torn entire dashboards out and meticulously put them back together in hopes of solving noises, only to be greeted by the same noise. I've compared how Ford puts the interiors together against GM, and there is mucho difference. For example, Ford (on the Ranger), when putting a dash together uses steel spring clips to "pull" a panel into place and the panel bottoms out on a rubber bumper. Great idea!!!!!! GM? Well, they screw plastic parts up against plastic parts. Over time, plastic experiences "creap", and the screws gradually loosen. Guess what? After 20-50K miles they start to make noise. I've also noticed that every GM I've owned is hard on front end parts, needing some new ones around 50K miles. This is not from owner neglect either. On the other hand, my Ford with 153,000 miles has never had one single front end part replaced, and still passes inspection at any front end shop before alignment.
At over $20,000 a pop, and for so few miles, this just ain't acceptable. I could go on and on about these differences (and there are lots of them) that are probably of little consequence to people that trade them in every year or two, but for those of us that keep em a long time I cannot, and will not tolerate this blatent neglect to pay attention to detail anymore. It's as if they wanna make them in such a manner that you will need to go replace it with a new one on an annual or semi-annual basis. I will say that my GM's run great and have been reliable as far as starting and running, but so what; that's the least anyone should hope for.
I'm not trying to start a debate over the subject, but rather point out some personal observations and experiences. It isn't that I hate them, in fact they actually do some things right, but overall I demand a better product for my money is all.

Why would I not buy a chevy. I had a good friend that had a really nice '79 chevy camaro. It looked nice and sounded good. When he bought the car he replaced everything he could afford. After his junior prom he took his date and the car out for a nice ride along a winding road that was pretty sparsly populated. He went around a corner and the tie rod broke and the car flipped and went into the river, the car sank like a rock and kliled him and his date. I will never own a chevy. this is hard to write

Ford isn't "thinking about" the new body style for the '04 F150, it's ready to go. I didn't like the looks of it when I saw the first pictures either. But then I saw one in person at an auto show, and I changed my mind on the spot. I think they look great.
Main reason why I don't like Chevy's: The first car I ever got to actually drive anywhere was a '66 Mustang. All I heard from the guys at school who had chevy's was what a piece of garbage it was. This from people whose cars would literally fall apart, but my Mustang was junk because it was a Ford.
Second reason: Over the years of spending countless hours in the woods during hunting season, I have observed much more offensive behavior from drivers of Chevy trucks than either Ford or Dodge owners. By that I mean careless/reckless driving, driving on closed roads, leaving garbage all over campsites, etc... This is from over 25 years in the woods, not just one or two instances. Although this last year, owners of new Ford Super Duty's were very quickly closing the gap on the reckless driving part. Must be Chevy guys dumping the junk and buying Fords.

Sorry For your experience, But tie rod ends break on anything.. Including fords.
As far as chevy and fords, I agree, the new Chevy's are HORRIBLE looking.. But I really also Hate the 03 expedition, explorer also, I prefer the look Of the 97-02 models.
One of the things I used to like about Ford trucks was they rode Higher, the chevys, although they had the same size tires, was always riding low on the tires great to get into and out of, but just didnt like the look.
Reliability.. MY experience is all chevy here, Me and My Neighbors
have had very Good luck and gotten Very high Milieage Out of Stock, unmodified motors 200+ thousand miles.. My Ford experience has been Opposite.. After 40, 000 miles on my Expedition, the Transmission had to be rebuilt, and front end parts replaced..FOr a vehicle that never sees the dirt i feel this inacceptable, then When i researched the problems further, I found out, its pretty much common on these (expeditions) to have tranny, rear end, motor problems)
BUT.. WHo knows, maybe it will hold up after this!

My dad drove his F150 (I6, 4x4) for 15 years. It was still going strong when he sold it and replaced it with my F150 (I6, 4x4) that I had driven 10 years. Neither of these trucks every needed any major work and never failed to start and run. I now have a new '03 F150 and hope it lasts as long. My brother in law bought a Chevy 4x4 2 years ago. It was loaded, supercab, automatic, large V8, etc. I was very impressed when I drove it. Well, after having front end problems for several months and two transmissions, Chevy finally wrote him a check and took the truck back. I decided I will just keep driving Fords.
