3ord oil analysis, high aluminum?

I slacked a bit this time and got my sample in a while after my oil change.. In any event, here are the stats. Aluminum looks a bit high. Any comments from some of the resident experts (vlony, pbruckne, etc)?

I like the report idea, how would I find someone in Phoenix to do this?

Fingers crossed on the aluminum deal though....

I've noticed most of us use a company called Blackstone Labs.
You send it via USPS or UPS, etc. using their container so it doesn't have to be local.
I usually use UPS and throw the container in a small box. Easier for me to ship it at work.

I forgot to capture a sample last oil change.

My last report showed Aluminum at 21 which they said was not a problem, they also noted that aluminum wear should read about 33% of iron wear. I have switched to Rotella 5w-40 since the last report. My 6.0 typically shows aluminum at 3 and I have been using the Rotella in it for more then 3 years.

Every engine wears different.... I believe your aluminum hit the radar because of the upward trend. I would run your current Motorcraft (assuming this is your current oil) another OCI and if the trend continues, then I would try another brand of oil and go from there. Keep in mind driving style, pulling heavy loads can affect wear metals as well.

Nothing to be alarmed about IMO...

You can go to Blackstone's website and order free oil sample bottles. Quite a few people on this site, including me, use this lab for testing. I do not know of any local to your area.

I used Blackstone when I had my 6.4 after some recommendations here on FTE. Its a mail-order test, you can send in a sample from anywhere. $25 for a regular test. There is another test that you can have done, but I think its another $10 or so (I don't have a sheet in front of me to reference).

No, just daily driving (state routes mostly, some in town, some highway).

Maybe the extra wear is due to the lower temps. I think I would look at a synethic for next winter.

My commute to/from work is 25 miles one way and the truck gets up to operating temps. I don't do a whole lot of short trips.
