2006 F150 5.4L Vin# 5 Knocks real bad after gets hot
Engine seems to knock real bad after engine gets hot like its out of time if unplug the vvt solenoids it runs great something is telling them to adjust timing to much.
Was thinking air mass meter ordered any other ideas if doesn't work.
Oh when it came in it had a cam code and i found cam sensor was broken it had new installed found part of other in engine. Phaser was damaged replaced it. still did it after.
Then I pulled front of engine apart found chain tensioner leaking oil around gasket and then we decided to re time chain. If still doing it.Will let know after air mass meter.
PS no codes at this time

More on Truck
Air Mass Meter didn't fix it.
Do to original Cam sensor being broken we suspect something electrical.
We moved on to testing cam sensor signal was none that we could see if scaled it down we could see something but doesn't look like anything we need. So we are looking at diagrams to figure out. Any ideas post ***Possibly PCM ?*** or other component.

OK found something
We believe oil pressure is low to vct system because every time vct system goes to retard timing it doesn't recover after it lets oil out of system it should fill up fast it doesn't.
P0345 keeps coming on. which doesn't mean cam sensor problem it just sees something is wrong I took it as a circuit electrical problem but don't think it is.
Then we decided to change oil and look in pan.
Very shocked to find a large peace of metal in pan now we need to pull pan.
Its funny it doesn't knock at all until timing retards if you rev up engine and let off then it retards timing dumps oil out and cams then float all over the place. And only Hot
Starting to think oil pump came apart but gauge says its ok.
