Heres a new one: ZF5 to E4OD swap questions

your trans was not operating even close to correct though.
remember you said she would bog way,way down and the truck would fall on its face before she finally found 2nd gear at a such slow speed i don't recall now? well anyway...........that wasn't even close to proper operation of the E40D.
who would like a trans that acted like that? no one.i sure wouldn't.if i want 2nd (which is often) i expect to get it at 45 mph up hill and revving like she should 3k+ rpm when im hauling a couple ton and i put her to the mat.she revs and pulls hard until i back off.
you set the TPS every 50k miles, not every 2 weeks lol.its clear you missed out on a great trans, because your trucks wiring to the tps was likely bad.we've been over this before, but you still think its was the fault of the trans? im so bummed you missed out on the E40D.seriously,you would have thought better of her if setup working properly.

Plus, I made money on the ZF5 swap so that made me happy.

I'll have to look at my harnesses but the one for the TCU goes mostly under the truck to the transmission. I know it connects to the FIPL and tach somewhere, so maybe you can get away with just replacing the TCU harness. It does need to tap into the brake lights at some point. The fewer line splices you do, the better off you are.

Just reading the thread for your ZF5 to E4OD
Did you ever finish it? How did it go?
I've been thinking the same thing. Have a 1991 F-250 4x4 with the ZfF5. Also have a '91 2wd that I just rebuilt the E4OD last year with upgrades.
Really like that E4OD transmission now and the left knee may have had enough years of clutch work.
Both are 7.3l IDI (non-turbo of course)

For sure. It drives great in my 2wd. Had almost 2 ton of gravel in there the other day and 0 to 50 in 5 steamboats was pretty good getting onto the highway, no hesitation.
I would like to have that ease of driving in my 4x4. I know I will give some range of use up dropping the ZF 5. But the auto is nice to drive.
