I believe this stepside truck bed will work for 1957-1972. I know it WILL NOT WORK for 1953-1956. The fender mounting bolts are too high. The bed is pretty rough. Some pinhole rust spots. The bottom of the front panel is also pretty rough and has some dents. The bedsides also need work. Some of the spot welds need to be rewelded. Would be a good option for your "beater with a heater".
