I would say we need to check this as we check oil. When hot remove cap if no pressure releases replace cap! I will put 1 in truck for spair! Great find!

How do you now if you have a old cap? Also what brand if you do not have advanced auto parts in your area.

Watch the video and then look at your cap, if your cap looks like the one he shows as the "old cap", then you have the "old cap". Just looked at mine and it's the old style, just need to figure out where to find the good ones up here in Canada.

UPDATE: NAPA carries them and their part # is 7031726, they do not list a price online.

I went out and checked mine and here is what it looked like after 74k on the speedo. I now have a new one from Advanced for a grand total of $5.42! As you can see it looks like it was boiling out. After the cap replacement I took her out and got it hot, it used to run at 194 degrees, at 70 mph. It is about 70 here today and its running 190 after 30 mile at 70-75. Amazing thread!

it's unbelievable that a multi-billion dollar company didn't know this? The results almost sound too good to be true. But i'm glad it appears they do.
great post

If you listen to what is said in the video: These caps are used on many of the ford products.
I'll have my 6.8L E-350SD cap replaced tomorrow.
It's 11 years old.
In fact I'll have all of my caps replaced Including the ones on the tow trucks.

Makes you wonder how many of these 6 dollar caps have destroyed people's trucks and costs them thousands....

Makes me also wonder if my 6.7 cap is improved....
