Leaking Switch on Brake Master Cylinder

What is the switch with electricla connector sticking out from the master cyllinder? Mine is soaked with fluid and should probably be replaced. Any things to watch out for if I do replace it?

IIRC that is the cruise control switch. There was a recall for this on some models. Fix it now before it remove to much paint from leaking.

Call the dealer with your VIN and check for the recall. The recall on my truck was not the switch replacement, but adding pigtail with fuse in it.
Several of those unfused switches shorten on parked truck taking not only truck, but houses with it.

Yeah , get the recall done on your truck for sure . I'd hate to hear about it going up in flames on you . The dealer told me that the switch is always wired HOTT which could lead to a fire . The dealer checked my switch to see if it was leaking ( it wasn't) but if it was , then they would replace the switch and added a new pig-tail to it to stop the switch from being HOTT .

I believe the recal was already done...i see a wiring bundle next to it that says to be sure and replace with a certain part number. Just had the truck in a few months ago for the air bag recall (from 01!) the PO never did...think they would have caught another open recall at that point.

If the recall harness has already been installed, you're on your own as to repairing the leaky switch.

The kit from the dealer with the switch and harness is inexpensive, around $20 or so.

With the recall you only get the harness fuse pigtail. I changed the sensor on my truck because of it leaking. Not expensive at Ford.

ok, thanks. Is that what tells the Cruise Control the brakes have been applied. The harness is soaked with fluid so I should prob replace that too.....

If anyone has the part number for both I would appreciate it.

The switch is a redundant disconnect (for safety) in case the brake pedal switch fails.

Just call the parts department - it's a high demand item.

In case they would do the recall - don't let them take the truck from your site. They performed 15 point inspection without my knowledge and dropped filter clamp into my turbo, what I discovered several days later.
